Success story: a major financial services firm

Challenge

A major Boston financial services firm wanted to collect complex data for tables, charts and outlines automatically from hundreds of internal clients in branches around the world, and produce complex presentations with InDesign Server and Illustrator. The finished print-ready PDFs had to be delivered within minutes without human intervention, 24/7, in English, German and Japanese.

Solution

Custom Flow Solutions implemented HyperGraph Financial as a hosted solution, running on several Macs concurrently for load balancing and redundancy. The system was customized to build highly specialized graphs and tables with tight typographic control in both Roman and Japanese characters. A web interface connected the company’s SQL database with the production servers, let clients submit data as templated Excel documents, and notified them when the final PDF was ready.

Result

The system produced thousands of charts, pages and presentations a day. By letting clients serve themselves, it saved production staff hundreds of hours and greatly reduced the pressure of quarter-end.
